Financial Controller (Financial Planning & Analysis)

About the role: 

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller (FP&A focused) to join the Manufacturing and Operations team at JCB. This role will play a key part in driving financial performance through robust planning, insightful analysis, and strong financial governance. 

The position is responsible for leading financial planning and analysis activities, alongside ensuring accurate reporting, compliance, and commercial decision support. The successful candidate will combine technical expertise with strategic thinking to drive continuous improvement and support operational efficiency across the business. 

What does this role involve day to day? 

• Guides and oversees the preparation of financial reporting, including the development of financial analyses, statements and forecasts  

• Acts as a key finance partner in support of the business unit head by developing and driving strategies that support long-term growth 

• Generates business plans in line with strategic and operational objectives of the business unit 

• Monitors, tracks and drives performance, seeking corrective action where required to ensure delivery of the business plan 

• Challenges and supports the business unit head and Group Executive including taking a lead on investment appraisals (products, new business) 

• Oversees the performance of financial and regulatory compliance and governance 

• Drives the business unit to maintain all internal and external financial controls, accounting policies and procedures 

• Creates and maintains strategic relationships with stakeholders outside of the business unit 

• Develops people, skills and succession plans, and manages the Finance team’s performance  

This will be suited to you if: 

• Qualified Accountant or equivalent 

• Experience in a manufacturing and/or commercial environment 

• Deep commercial understanding of the business model and value drivers  

• Clear insight into how finance interacts with and supports cross-functional operations  

• Technical expertise in accounting standards and principles
