About the role:
As a Management Accountant at JCB, you’ll take on a highly visible and valued role within our Sales Finance team, partnering with colleagues across the business and external stakeholders to support confident, informed decision-making.
If you’re a qualified (or nearly qualified) accountant with experience in management accounts and a passion for turning numbers into meaningful insight, this could be a great next step for you.
You’ll become a trusted go to for finance queries, known for your approachable style, clear communication, and ability to bring clarity to complexity. Working in a collaborative and supportive environment, you’ll play an important part in delivering accurate, timely reporting while adding real value through your ideas and input.
This is a role where you’ll gain exposure, build relationships, and continue to grow, contributing not just to financial accuracy, but to how we continuously improve and evolve as a team.
What does this role involve day to day:
As a Management Accountant, you will provide valuable financial insight and support to ensure accurate reporting, effective cost management, and robust financial control across the business. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
• Supporting the Assistant Financial Controller with month end reporting activities
• Preparing and clearly explaining key variances, providing insight and context for stakeholders
• Leading forecasting and budgeting, partnering with non Finance teams to build monthly overhead forecasts and the annual budget
• Completing balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations, investigating variances and resolving issues in a timely way
• Managing and maintaining the fixed asset register, including monitoring capital expenditure and forecasting future requirements
• Completing accruals and prepayments, posting journals accurately and on time
• Supporting continuous improvement and standardisation, helping to build an even more efficient Finance function
This will be suited to you if...
• You enjoy collaborating with others, take pride in doing things well, and like the idea of adding value through insight, accuracy and thoughtful problem-solving.
• Qualified or in the final stages of a recognised accounting qualification
• Experience within a Finance function, ideally with exposure to management accounts
• A good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (e.g., Pivot Tables, SUMIFS and VLOOKUPs) and confidence working with data
• A proactive, organised approach, able to manage priorities, meet deadlines and maintain attention to detail
• Comfortable building positive relationships with both Finance and non Finance colleagues, and communicating clearly and professionally
• A commitment to working in line with Group Accounting Policies and delivering consistently high standards
It would be great if you also have…
• Experience supporting forecasting/budgeting cycles or partnering with stakeholders outside Finance
• An interest in improving ways of working - spotting opportunities to simplify, standardise or strengthen processes
• Experience working in a high volume environment where priorities can shift
