Software Developer Apprentice – LiveLink Telematics

Location: JCB World Parts Centre

Apprenticeship: Level 4 Software Developer

Contract: Full time apprenticeship (earn while you learn)

About the Role:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Software Developer Apprentice to join our LiveLink Telematics team at the JCB World Parts Centre.

LiveLink is JCB’s global telematics platform, providing real time machine data, diagnostics, and performance insights for construction and agricultural equipment across the world. This role is ideal for someone with an interest in technology, problem solving, and software development, who wants to learn how digital systems support connected machines at scale.

You will gain hands on experience in a professional software development environment while working towards a nationally recognised apprenticeship qualification.

What You’ll Be Doing

As part of the LiveLink Telematics team, you will be involved in a wide range of software development activities, including:

Supporting the design, development, testing, and deployment of software applications used within the LiveLink platform

Writing and maintaining high quality, well documented code under the guidance of experienced developers

Assisting with debugging, troubleshooting, and resolving software issues

Working with APIs, databases, and cloud based systems to process and manage telematics data

Participating in Agile development activities such as daily stand ups, sprint planning, and reviews

Collaborating with developers, engineers, and product teams across the business

Learning secure, reliable, and scalable software development practices

You will be supported throughout your apprenticeship with structured training, mentoring, and on the job learning.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is motivated to learn and develop within a technical and fast paced digital environment. You don’t need professional software development experience—just a genuine interest in technology and the willingness to learn.

Essential Skills and Qualities

Strong problem solving and logical thinking skills

An interest in software development and technology

Good attention to detail and a methodical approach to work

Ability to communicate clearly and work as part of a team

Willingness to learn, take feedback, and develop new skills

Qualifications

GCSEs at grade 4 or above in Maths and English are essential

A levels, T levels, BTEC, or equivalent qualifications in IT, Computer Science, or a related subject are desirable but not essential

Training and Development

Completion of a Level 4 Software Developer Apprenticeship alongside your role

Structured off the job training with an approved apprenticeship training provider

Ongoing support and mentoring from experienced software developers

Development of core programming, testing, and development lifecycle skills

Opportunity to build a professional portfolio of work across real business systems
