About the role:
As the HS&E Manager at JCB Compact Products, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the safety, wellbeing and environmental performance of one of our Staffordshire business units. You’ll lead our approach to risk management, legal compliance and continuous improvement, helping to shape a strong, proactive HS&E culture across the site. This is a hands‑on leadership role where you’ll influence behaviours, drive standards, and support the business in maintaining a safe, compliant and forward‑thinking working environment.
What does this role involve day to day?
· Delivering effective risk management across the site, ensuring risk reduction measures and emergency preparedness plans are in place and maintained.
· Ensuring compliance with HS&E legislation, JCB policies and international health, safety and environmental standards.
· Monitoring HS&E performance trends, identifying areas for improvement and creating plans to address them.
· Identifying site HS&E training and competency needs, and ensuring your team delivers appropriate development.
· Reporting, investigating and following up on all HS&E incidents, near misses and hazard observations.
· Enhancing the site's HS&E culture by promoting best practice and driving strong governance across the business.
This will be suited to you if…
· You hold a NEBOSH Diploma or an equivalent degree in a relevant discipline.
· You have extensive experience within HS&E, ideally already operating at HS&E Manager or equivalent level.
· You bring an understanding of environmental management (advantageous but not essential).
· You have experience working in health & safety within customer‑facing environments or situations involving interaction with the public.
· You are confident using digital tools, and willing to travel within the UK when required.
· You are enthusiastic, proactive and committed to continuous improvement and best‑practice HS&E management.
· You work with urgency, professionalism and strong attention to detail, and can influence stakeholders at all levels.
