What does this role involve day to day?
• Carrying out electrical and mechanical testing of JCB diesel generators.
• Configuring and testing lithium-powered battery packs.
• Performing electrical and mechanical testing on hydrogen-powered generators.
• Working within a brand-new live generator test environment, assisting with panel building, modifications, and prototype/new project work.
• Ensuring all work meets product specifications and customer requirements, including fault finding and problem diagnosis to drive product and process improvements.
• Following SOP instructions and maintaining accurate test documentation.
• Undertaking training as required, including Hydrogen SAP certification.
End-of-line testing responsibilities include:
• Pre-checks and first fill of liquids.
• Generator rigging.
• Insulation resistance and dielectric testing.
• Safety and emergency checks.
• RCD testing.
• Functional testing and load banking of generator sets.
• Completing all relevant test documentation.
This will be suited to you if
• You're electrically competent and experienced in generator or battery storage testing.
• You have experience working inside control panels and with AC/DC power systems.
• You're comfortable working inside alternators and can work safely alone or as part of a team.
• You can read and interpret electrical schematics and drawings.
• You have knowledge of PLC, MODBUS, and CANUS programming/configuration (preferred).
• You're skilled in fault finding and resolving electrical and mechanical issues.
• You have experience with Deepsea, DEIF, or Comap genset controllers (advantageous).
Qualifications and Experience
Expected Qualifications:
• ONC/HNC or higher in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or
• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or Maintenance, or
• Equivalent electrical qualifications and experience.
Desirable Qualifications:
• City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing or EAL equivalent.
• 18th Edition 2382 (BS7671) Electrical Regulations.
• Authorised Person/Senior Authorised Person certification.
• IOSH training.
