About the role:
This role is key to JCB’s Road to Zero goals and to offer the best product support in the industry. The successful candidate will take a key role in a new and exciting chapter in the evolution of the JCB DieselMax engine, supporting the JCB Dealer network and being fundamental in providing an unrivalled technical support for or global customers.
What does this role involve day to day?
• You'll work closely with the development and engineering working on the Road to Zero projects to enable learning and systems knowledge, to support the products as they go to market.
• Experience in compilation of supporting technical information in the form of bulletins, manuals and training material. Experience of this and complex understanding of electronic controlled engines/machines is essential.
• Proving assistance and advice on engine support procedures to JCB’s Global dealer network.
• Leading resolution of potentially complex technical issues, with specific focus towards establishing the Root cause and putting in place relevant technical and commercial service support actions.
• Management of the New Product Introduction process for all engines including support of Hydrogen engine introduction. This will include liaising with engineering, sales, parts support, technical publications, and field personnel in the UK and internationally.
• Analysis of failure/ warranty information to identify quality issues, supporting JCB and their supplier base to achieve product quality improvements where applicable to engine or support issues.
This will be suited to you if
• You’re self-motivated & enthusiastic, with a strong sense of urgency driven by deadlines and a flexible team player focused on customer support. The role requires strong communication skills and the ability to engage the whole of JCB support network but also to work on your own initiative.
• You have an understanding of differing installations for Hydrogen engines in JCB Machines, Generators and other applications, and requirements thereof.
• You have an understanding of engine support systems and processes with JCB or other OEMs would be an advantage. It will also require travel especially to supporting UK and worldwide distributor and customer visits in order to resolve issues and satisfy the relevant customer. NB This may occur at short notice.
• You’re computer literate and qualified to HNC/HND, degree level or equivalent, in mechanical Engineering although sufficient previous experience, and technical ability with the appropriate attitude may be sufficient.
The role requires strong engine experience including the key principles of spark ignitions systems on internal combustion engines, the knowledge and application of Hydrogen, LPG or CNG systems would also be beneficial but not a mandatory requirement as training will be given, to enable the ability to fault diagnose problems encountered by service engineers globally. Therefore, great communicative skills and experience with data analytics and presentation to enable you to manage all aspects of engine support successfully at all levels both within and outside the JCB organisation and put in place the necessary procedures and process to support the dealer network.
