About the role:
The Functional Excellence Principal Engineer is responsible for overseeing the performance and improvement of specific functions within the organization. This role ensures that the function delivers high-quality results, aligns with the organization's strategy and goals, and follows best practices and standards.
What does this role involve day to day?
• Drawing Template Creation: Develop and standardize drawing templates for hydraulic components, ensuring consistency and accuracy across various types of drawings such as adaptors, manifold blocks, accumulators, and hydraulic schematics.
• System Improvement: Create templates for FFPS based on component types, including pumps, motors, control valves, accumulators, check valves, simple valves, and filters.
• Part Approvals: Identifying existing parts used across the group to promote part rationalisation.
• ePI Approvals: Oversee the approval process for ePI’s, ensuring that critical structures and hydraulic schematics meet required changes and JCB standards.
• Design Guides: Create or update design guides for hydraulic systems, also including how to validate the designs.
• Part Rationalization: Focus on relevant components such as accumulators, hoses, adaptors, filters, and sight gauges across the Globe, and minimise the variations.
• CAD Review Support: Support CAD design reviews, smaller group design reviews, and functional excellence team reviews to ensure effective meetings, timely actions, and problem-solving.
• DFMEA Indexing: Collaborate and index DFMEAs across projects/products, support DFMEAs as needed, and remind new engineers of their importance.
• Global Strategy: Attend weekly reviews with Purchasing to discuss supplier performance, project updates, and support supplier visits to review engineering capabilities.
• Materials: Supporting the creation of tracking components that need to be identified in new legislative databases and help with the uploading of the data.
• Additional Team Tasks: Create tracking sheets, project reporting, working alongside the GCET team and produce usable cost worksheets, supplier reviews, workshops for upskilling, training for core knowledge, and driver training.
This will be suited to you if
• You have proven experience in engineering, preferably within the hydraulic systems domain.
• You have a strong understanding of functional excellence principles and best practices.
• You have excellent project management and organizational skills.
• You have the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• You have strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• You have strong Excel and PowerPoint Skills
• You have knowledge of Teamcenter and/or Visualization
• You have knowledge of JCB NPIP process, especially Technical Review requirements.
