About the role:
You will be responsible for carrying out maintenance duties. Work involves a variety of duties to manage and maintain the golf course, ensuring that it is always presented in the best possible condition.
What does this role involve day to day?
• Cutting all playing surfaces, change holes, setting up golf course for play, preparing bunkers, any spraying that is required; ensuring that the course is presented in the best possible condition to always exceed the expectations of guests and visitors.
• Construction, Aeration and turfing works.
• Understand the companies’ policies on health and safety and to ensure that all duties performed are carried out with full regard to the safety of the customers, visitors, contractors and other employees; work within the health and safety, COSHH, Risk Assessment and SOP guidelines always.
• Responsible for the care of machinery and the reporting of loss or damage to Head Mechanic.
• Ensure that care is always taken to prevent any long-term damage to the turf/golf course.
• Participates in the propagation of grass and other plants.
• Interest in the use of fungicides and other control measures for the management of disease and/or any unwanted species.
• Any required task to contribute to the workflow and smooth running of the department/organisation.
This will be suited to you if
• Knowledge of recreational operations and maintenance work involved.
• Knowledge of the methods used in the care and maintenance of golf courses.
• Knowledge of the care and maintenance of grass greens.
• Knowledge of the uses and operating methods of the equipment and tools used in golf course maintenance.
• Knowledge of turf diseases and the methods and chemicals used to control them.
• Possess good interpersonal skills to communicate effectively.
• Must maintain a positive attitude in all work-related circumstances.
• Must be a focused individual with the aim of progressing in their career and the industry.
Knowledge and Experience required:
• SVQ/NVQ 2 in sports turf maintenance or equivalent
• Minimum of 2-year experience in an assistant greenkeeping position
• Must hold full UK driving license.
