Overview of the role

We are leaders in the development of off highway diesel and hydrogen engines, predominantly for our internal JCB customers. This development takes place in JCB Power Systems Research & Development laboratory based at Foston, where we have 18 world class diesel engine development test cells. The main focus for this position is to ensure that these test cells produce high quality data at high levels of efficiency and uptime.

What does this role involve day to day?

• Servicing and calibration of equipment used in the engine research lab.

• Routine and preventative maintenance of the engine research lab.

• Repairing of electrical / mechanical / electronic equipment and instrumentation in the development engine test cells and infrastructure.

• Bespoke test rigs construction.

• Integration and commissioning of new equipment. 

• Day to day management of contractors

This will be suited to you if

• You have experience in a maintenance field, electronics and or have a fundamental understanding of how a development engine test cell works.

• You want to be become a technician whose main responsibility is the quick response to cell breakdowns; keeping the test cells running, being your main priority.

• You are trained in electro/mechanical/electronic

• Have experience in testing and repairing of electronic equipment, PCs, printed circuit boards

• You are willing and able to work additional hours, evenings, and weekends, (overtime paid) as required to suit the business needs.
