Embedded Systems Manager – Electrical and Controls

The Opportunity

Overview of the role

Reporting to the Chief Engineer, Electrical and Controls Category team, the successful candidate will join a highly focussed and passionate team leading the delivery of display embedded software across the business.

The role brings leadership of embedded real time applications, hardware and associated systems, and has responsibilities that ensure all new JCB Product programmes meet the required technical deliverables within agreed programme timing. What does this role involve day to day?

• Line management of a team of approximately 10 individuals
• Development and growth of your team in line with the JCB People Standard
• Delivery of complex hardware and software-based engineering programmes in line with Business processes
• Maintain the roadmap for your domain.
• Sign off authority for technical products for your domain.
• Planning and prioritisation of conflicting tasks
• Root cause investigations on current product
•  Positively representing the team in internal and external meetings

This will be suited to you if;

• You have good interpersonal skills – a communicator and consensus-builder
• You are capable and willing to take part in international travel on a regular basis
• Have knowledge about technology & passionate about the delivery process. A desire to understand how things work, and how they can be improved. An understanding of how electronic systems are designed, built, installed, and tested
• You have software and hardware knowledge of data carrying wiring systems i.e., CAN, twisted pairs, Ethernet. Experience of systems circuit design and knowledge of harness design processes
• You are willing to be involved in fault finding, diagnosis and installation support. Experience of working with JCB suppliers on delivering hardware and software products used on  JCB products
• You have a willingness to get involved with warranty investigations
• You have an awareness of various quality assurance analysis methods – FMEA, 8D, Risk Assessments
• You have understanding the effects of dust, water, vibration, heat plus other associated environmental risks to the electrical system, and how to design protection in.
